THE MITCH IS BACK Ross Kemp’s emotional return to EastEnders as Grant and Phil reunite at seaside for Nigel’s heartbreaking final scenes

EastEnders’ legends the Mitchell brothers reunite to film poignant scenes for Nigel Bates’ dementia storyline.

The Sun has exclusive snaps of returning Albert Square stalwart Ross Kemp reprising his role as Grant Mitchell alongside Steve McFadden, who plays older sibling Phil, filmed on a beach near Portsmouth in Sussex, caring for their old pal whose illness is beginning to take its toll.

Ross, 61, was last seen in Walford last February as part of the soap’s 40th-anniversary celebrations, when he returned to support his on-screen brother who was in the midst of a suicidal breakdown.

He also saved ex-wife Sharon Watts’ life after rescuing her from a burning down Queen Vic in heroic fashion.

And now he’s back once again to assist dementia-hit Nigel, played by Paul Bradley, whose health is rapidly deteriorating.

Phil is also snapped taking a stroll with Nigel on the beach as well as sharing a cup of tea by a beach hut.

Grant returns to Walford after being contacted by his son Mark, who recently returned to the Square, and has been living with Phil, where Nigel currently resides alongside wife Julie.

His son sees first-hand how much Nigel is declining, and urges Grant to go and see his old friend before it’s too late.

Nigel’s on-screen daughter, Claire (Gemma Bissix), recently made a comeback after 18 years to pay a visit to her adoptive father in his hospital bed.

Speaking about his latest comeback to the BBC soap, Ross said: “I’m truly delighted to be stepping back into Grant Mitchell’s shoes and returning to EastEnders later this year.
