Stacey makes a decision about her future in EastEnders – but it’s the wrong one
EastEnders spoilers follow for Monday’s (September 29) episode that is now available to view on BBC iPlayer. The episode in question will air on BBC One on at 7:30pm.
Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner) spent the most part of todays episode being talked at.
This year, Stacey lost her beloved Martin Fowler (James Bye) who was trapped beneath a beam following the explosion in the Queen Vic pub.
Before he succumbed to crush syndrome, he reaffirmed his love for Stacey and ever since, she’s found living and working in the same place she lost him difficult to bare.

Thing started to look up for Stace’ when she received an invitation from brother Sean (Rob Kazinsky) to move to Brazil with her children and help him run a restaurant, though since she decided to make the move, she’s been faced with adversity.
She first had to tell mum Jean (Gillian Wright), who was under the impression that she’d be going to Brazil, too, that Sean hadn’t included her in their plans, not wanting to risk their currently-positive relationship by living together again.
Lily Slater (Lillia Turner) later told Stacey that she wouldn’t be leaving Walford with her, not wanting her young daughter, Charli, to grow up without her dad, Ricky Branning (Frankie Day), around.

Today’s episode opened with Stacey still hopeful that Lily can be swayed, presenting her with a Brazilian breakfast. Despite Stacey’s assertations that she needs Lily with her and couldn’t bare to leave her behind, Lily was steadfast – she’s staying in Walford, but that if a move to Brazil will make Stacey happy, she should grab the opportunity with both hands.
Jean took her turn next, though her angle was very different from Lily’s. While Stacey poured forth her reasons for needing a fresh start, away from the Square, Jean just couldn’t understand why Stacey thinks that being surrounded by her family isn’t the best decision.
She begged her to see that leaving Lily behind was a mistake, and retreated in tears.

Next up to offer advice was Eve Panesar-Unwin (Heather Peace), who told Stacey that she deserved the opportunity at a fresh start, though Stacey wasn’t completely sold.
Immediately following Eve was Zoe Slater (Michelle Ryan), who reminded Stacey of her own troubles. She’d spent 20 years away from her family and had only just realised that it was the exact opposite of what she really needed, telling Stacey that she’s the ‘glue’ that sticks the Slater clan together.
As the Slaters assembled to see Stacey off with a shot (or three), the family were clearly struggling with the idea of her going, though Kat Moon (Jessie Wallace) rallied the troops as she saw Stacey approach.

As Stacey entered, she immediately told the other Slaters that she’d changed her mind, she was staying put. Though Jean and Zoe were utterly elated at the news, Lily could immediately see that Stacey wasn’t happy and asked her Mum if she was sure.
Stacey slipped easily into Mum mode with a smile and a wink, assuring Lily that all was well for the sake of her daughter but, when out of eyeshot, her smile faded completely.
Stacey’s heart clearly lies in Brazil, and with her yearning for a fresh start away from Walford, she evidently wants to go, but will the input from her family stop her from chasing her new dream? Or will Lily be the one to finally convince her mum to spread her wings?

One thing is for certain, though. A reunion with her former lover, Max Branning (Jake Wood) is about to rock Stacey in scenes that actress Lacey Turner has been very excited about.
She said: ‘‘I love working with Jake, I always have. It’s amazing that you can just pick up where you left off, and it’s always interesting to watch them both together because there’s always something sizzling underneath for both of them.
‘So, you can play so much in little things such as looks. It’s rare to have a story that has that much history, and that is still being played out today, but that’s the beauty of shows like EastEnders.
