SH0CK EXIT: CATHERINE TYLDESLEY ABRUPTLY QUITS CORONATION STREET AFTER JUST 5 MONTHS FOR A MYSTERIOUS NEW TELEVISION PROJECT!

We’re just not prepared to lose Eva Price (Catherine Tyldesley) from Coronation Street again, especially not just five months after the perfectly coiffed and impeccably blow-dried diva re-emerged as the Queen of the Rover’s.

But lose her we must.

Though fortunately for Corrie fans, it’ll only be a temporary loss, as actress Catherine departs the cobbles for a brief period to wrap up her role as Kate Woods in The Good Ship Murder.

After an initial stint between 2011 and 2018, Eva returned in October of last year, taking the helm of the nations most iconic boozer with her brand new blended family. While it was apparent that her beloved boyfriend, Ben Driscoll’s (Aaron McCusker) mum, Maggie (Pauline McLynn), couldn’t stand Eva from the jump, the depths of the darkness surrounding the family didn’t become apparent until later.

See, Maggie is also a murderer, and Ben’s youngest son, Will (Lucas Hodgson-Wale) has been systematically abused by his paedophile sports coach, Megan Walsh (Beth Nixon).

With so many secrets ready to blow in the Driscoll clan that could tear them apart forever, it’s perhaps a blessing that Eva’s booking in a break before all hell breaks loose…

Catherine’s temporary exit

In her time away from Weatherfield, Catherine starred in the Channel 5 crime drama as first officer Kate Woods, the accomplice to fellow soap royalty, Shayne Ward’s Jack Grayling, a former detective turned cruise ship singer, who’s forced to investigate a series of unsettling murders.

The show has been a big hit for Channel 5 and also stars former Hollyoaks legend, Ross Adams.

While some fans feared that Catherine’s return to Corrie may force an off-screen exit for Kate, it appears that won’t be the case.

‘Cath spoke to her bosses at Corrie about taking some time off to film her Good Ship exit and they agreed,’ a source revealed

‘When she agreed to return to the soap, there was a lot of uncertainty about whether or not she would be able to go back, but fortunately, it’s all working out.’

It seems though, that despite the name of the series, Cath’s character Kate won’t become a victim of murder herself.

‘There was talk about possibly killing off her character but in the end bosses decided that she would get a happy ending,’ continued the source.

‘The writers are delighted that Cath is able to return to film her exit. Cath and Shayne have formed such an incredible partnership on-screen and the viewers deserve to see how it all ends for them.’

Shayne recently spoke to The Mirror about the future of the show, but confirmed that he hadn’t managed to catch up with Catherine since she returned to Corrie.

‘I haven’t spoken to Catherine much recently because I know how intense it is when you’re in the show, especially now that she’s in the Rovers,’ he said, before looking back fondly on his own time on the show.

‘It’s a big responsibility. I loved being on the cobbles and playing Aidan. It was a great three years of my life and something I’ll always cherish. To say I was on Coronation Street is one of my biggest achievements. It was a great time in my life and it’s also when I met [his wife] Sophie.
