NEW UPDATE! Emmerdale reveals who ran Cain Dingle over in early ITVX episode
Emmerdale fans can expect more turmoil for Jacob Sugden tonight, as he’s revealed to be the mystery figure who knocked Cain Dingle over in the road.
Jacob, Kerry Wyatt and Graham Foster had been named as the three main suspects in the storyline, but there’s a quick resolution this evening as we discover that Jacob’s workplace woes have had disastrous consequences.

Medical student Jacob has become a target for bullying at the hospital while working under the guidance of new villain Dr Todd. This week, he was inconsolable as Dr Todd sent him home following another big mistake – harshly warning him that he’d never make it as a doctor.
In tonight’s episode, it’s confirmed that Jacob accidentally ran Cain over while driving back home to the village in a stressed, tired and emotional state.
He immediately admits that he was the driver rather than covering up the truth, but the worrying turn of events sparks major new tensions between him and his wife Sarah.
When Cain’s prostate operation is postponed until he has recovered from the accident, his loved ones fear this could give his cancer more time to spread.
As Sarah frets about her grandfather’s future, can she forgive Jacob for making matters worse? And how long can Jacob carry on suffering in silence amid Todd’s machinations?

Teasing Jacob’s big plot, an Emmerdale spokesperson previously said: “The storyline will delve into Jacob’s struggle to manage his work-life balance under the immense pressure of his overbearing boss.
“The stakes are raised further when Doctor Todd installs herself in the village, blurring the lines between Jacob’s professional and private life.”
Show producer Laura Shaw added: “We are looking forward to seeing the machinations of someone like Caitlin Todd, and it’s not just at the hospital where she will start to make an impression.
“Caroline [Harker, who plays Todd] is a fabulous actor and brings such great experience to this role – we can’t wait for her to play out what we have planned for the character.”
