NEW UPDATE! Coronation Street fans won’t be happy as star confirms Bethany’s new story
Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon) is one of Coronation Street’s most beloved characters.
Long time fans will remember when her mum, Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien), fell pregnant at the tender age of 13, and poor little Bethany was kidnapped twice in the first four years of her life.
As a teenager, Bethany was part of a much-acclaimed sexual exploitation storyline, which saw her forced into prostitution and sex trafficking, before she bravely testified against the ring and escaped. Though she sought to regain ‘control’ of her body through a brief lap dancing career, she eventually left Weatherfield for London.
Upon her return, she contracted sepsis after a liposuction operation in Turkey, which ultimately led to her having to adjust to a new reality with a stoma bag.
She underwent a quiet period after that, though she’s recently emerged as one of the only people able to see right through the sheer insanity that is Jodie Ramsey (Olivia Frances-Brown), but, according to Lucy, fans may soon take a dislike to her alter-ego, with her becoming ‘a bit of a d**k’!

When asked at the Grand National Festival at Aintree Racecourse if Bethany has any big stories coming up, Lucy replied: ‘She does! I can’t tell you what it is, but it’s not going to be great.
‘I don’t think people are going to be happy about it. This one is low-key her fault. Everyone is going to be like, ‘She is a d**k.’ Which is fine.’
When asked if she was hesitant to play out a plot in which Bethany would be seen as a baddie, she said: ‘I don’t mind what it is as long as it’s a good one. Being in the Platts is a good family to be in. It’s an amazing honour to get a storyline, I don’t take it for granted at all.’

Lucy went on to spill some further tea, revealing that she doesn’t actually watch Coronation Street, primarily because she can’t bare to see herself on screen.
‘I don’t actually watch Coronation Street. Not because I don’t like it, but because I don’t like to watch anything I do,’ she admitted.
‘Some people like to watch themselves, but I’ve never ever liked it. So, I don’t really watch it and I don’t really know what’s going on in Corrie at the moment. But I love it at Coronation Street. It’s my favourite place, it’s my second home.’

How successful was her day at the races? Well, according to Lucy, she’d suffered a few bad steers from her boyfriend.
‘My boyfriend, Ryan [Ledson] likes the horseracing, but his tips so far have been s**t so, I’m not going to go with him anymore, I’m going to go with Colson,’ she joked, after catching up with former co-star, Colson Smith at the event.
She recently had to confirm that Colson was still alive, after an Instagram story panicked fans.

Lucy warned that Bethany will be a ‘bit of a d**k’
Lucy recently revealed her intention to remain on the cobbles for a while.
When asked by The Mirror about potentially leaving, she said: ‘I’ve done that once before, I don’t plan on doing it again.
‘You get periods of time where you’re not in — I’m not very busy there at the moment, which has been really nice because I get to spend time with Sonny and Nancy.’
‘But in a few weeks’ time, I’m going to be busy again,’ she hinted, referencing Bethany’s upcoming ‘d**k’ turn.
