JUSTICE CATCHES UP AS GEORGE SHUTTLEWORTH FACES A CATASTROPHIC POLICE RAID: IS THE SHUTTLEWORTH LEGACY ABOUT TO CRUMBLE?
Coronation Street spoilers follow.
Coronation Street‘s George Shuttleworth finds his reputation in tatters next week, as the police question him on suspicion of fraud. The latest setback follows a flurry of one-star reviews for Shuttleworth’s.
Disgruntled customer Annie is responsible for the negative online attention – and George fears for the future of the undertakers. But things are about to get much worse…
“George is mortified to have the police arrive at his business in full view of the whole Street,” our Corrie insider explains. “His good name has already taken a beating thanks to the load of negative reviews online, and now the cops look set to arrest him. It’s a total nightmare.”
All this misfortune comes courtesy of Annie, the daughter of a Shuttleworth’s customer who is convinced that George groomed her mum into leaving him a substantial lump of cash in her will.

While George steadfastly denies the claims, Annie is convinced he is guilty and has even reported him to the police for what she believes is a crime.
So, when the series of reviews suddenly appear online, all criticising Shuttleworth’s service, George and Christina know instantly who is behind them.
Furious Glenda soon springs into action to try and make amends, posting some five-star reviews to help the family business. But will getting involved in the fake feedback game only come back to bite her on the bum?
Later, Christina takes things further when she decides to take on Annie at her own game, reporting George’s accuser to the police for defamation of character. But it backfires when the cops arrive at Shuttleworth’s and ask George to come to the station…

“The police want to talk to him about Annie’s accusations, so at least he now has the chance to give his side of the story,” our insider explains. “But it’s clear they must think there’s some truth in what Annie’s saying if they are taking the time to talk to George.
“Let’s just hope as he answers their questions George doesn’t make things worse…”
Whether the police believe Annie or not remains to be seen, but there’s still the matter of Shuttleworth’s tarnished reputation to deal with. But as George calls a crisis meeting with Christina and Glenda, they are interrupted by a call from his solicitor.
After George takes in the news, we see him knock back a big drink – so is he toasting a victory, or downing his sorrows?
Coronation Street airs on weeknights at 8.30pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
