“IT WILL NEVER FEEL REAL”: EMMERDALE’S APRIL WINDSOR SHARES INCREDIBLE MILESTONE
Emmerdale star Amelia Flanagan has shared what will ‘never feel real’ as she continues to shine in and away from the long-running show.
The actress is best known for playing April Windsor in the ITV soap, having joined back in 2014 as Marlon Dingle and Donna Windsor’s daughter. and has since grown up in front of viewers’ eyes, earning several accolades for her performances, including best young performer gong at the 2025 Inside Soap Awards.
That was because last year, Amelia was a standout star in Emmerdale as her character faced plenty of trauma, including a harrowing homelessness and pregnancy storyline. The teen has since tackled one of the darkest storylines to grace the Dales yet.

After April and her boyfriend Dylan Penders found themselves at the mercy of Ray Walters who was forcing them to do drugs runs in order to pay back their “debt”, Celia Daniels was revealed to be the big boss behind the whole operation.
Since then, Ray and Celia have faced the ultimate commupance, with Ray killing Celia before he was killed by a confused Bear Wolf, who had faced the horrific world of modern slavery at the hands of the mother and on, having been forced to work horrific hours as well as bury another slave, Anya, who sadly died from an untreated infection.

But away from the darkness that has spread across the Yorkshire village, Amelia has been able to enjoy a week of awards bashes. The ITV soap dominated at the annual ceremony, which also saw Claudia Winkleman, Ruth Jones and Call The Midwife emerge as big winners on Monday (February 2) at The London Hilton on Park Lane.
With Jason Manford appearing as host on a night celebrating the best of British TV, it was Emmerdale standing tall. As well as the prestigious Best Soap prize, Lewis Barton actor Bradley Riches was named Best Soap Newcomer, and castmate Danny Miller, who plays Aaron Dingle, won Best Soap Performance.
Amelia was among the Emmerdale stars in attendance as she went up against co-star Danny in the same category. She and Dylan co-star Fred Kettle were then later seen attending the Broadcast Awards 2026, with the young actress posting a string of glamorous snaps on social media.
Alongside one shared to her Instagram Story, Amelia said: “Back home after the most incredible week in London. Will never feel real that I get to attend such amazing events and have such brillaint opportunities!!!” She added: “Forever grateful, thank you to everyone for all the love and support, it means the world.”
Meanwhile, Amelia has been heard discussing her future in Emmerdale. When asked if April would find some happiness this year by GB News at the TV Choice Awards, the 17-year-old replied: “Yeah, I think so.”
