A Love Story That Started in Summer Bay

Rebecca and Luke met on the set of Home and Away in 2009. She played Ruby Buckton, while he played fan-favourite Romeo Smith. Their on-screen chemistry continued off-screen and blossomed into a long-term relationship.

They became engaged in May 2012 and married eight months later in January 2013. After several years in the United States to pursue acting opportunities, they moved home to Australia to reconnect with family and build a quieter life.

Rebecca previously told TV Week:
“It’s been really, really nice just to ground ourselves and be back home. I finally have a garden – I’ve been wanting to have a vegetable garden for so long. So we’re literally putting down roots back home, and that has been very soothing for the soul.”

Luke and Rebecca described their years abroad as rewarding but challenging.
Rebecca added:
“It was really powerful to have someone who was your anchor and your home base. Moving away from everything you’ve ever known can be very difficult. Our industry has a lot of pressure, highs and lows, and it can be very lonely.
