Home and Away fans’ major question as Brax and Ricky set to return: ‘I don’t understand’
Home and Away is pulling out the big guns as Brax and Ricky are making a very unexpected return. Fans were very excited that they will finally get an update on the couple 10 years after they were last seen on the show.
Channel 7 has provided a very short synopsis of why Brax and Ricky are returning. But, for some diehard viewers, it left more questions than answers.
“A world away from his surfer days in Summer Bay, Brax is now working on a remote cattle station deep in the outback,” the network said.
“Brax, Ricky and their son Casey have quietly built a whole new life in hiding, far-removed from the chaos they left behind.
“But the peaceful existence they’ve managed to maintain is about to come to an abrupt end, when a crisis from the Bay finds its way to Brax’s doorstep.
“While Ricky sees danger in jeopardising the trouble-free life they’ve worked so hard to protect, Brax finds himself torn between keeping his family safe and his loyalty to his River Boys brothers.”
Sounds pretty juicy.
The trio apparently moved all the way over to Western Australia and they could be brought back to Summer Bay for what will probably be an explosive few episodes.
But those who vividly remember Brax’s storyline are confused about why he’s “in hiding”.
There’s no denying Steve Peacocke’s character spent a lot of his time on the wrong side of the tracks, but the way he left the Bay wouldn’t suggest he would need to be on the other side of the country.
Home and Away expert Chris Jenkins, who runs the Back to the Bay website, summed this up perfectly.
“While Brax did briefly go into hiding in 2015 after faking his own death, he returned to Summer Bay in 2016 as a free man,” he wrote.
Brax was cleared of murdering Dean Sanderson, which allowed him, Ricky (Bonnie Sveen), and baby Casey to leave town.
Chris questioned whether this storyline would be “rewritten” or if Home and Away would add in other crimes that Brax committed that would warrant him needing to disappear into the outback.
He isn’t the only one with questions, as fans are similarly wondering what is going on.
“Maybe Brax testified against someone and then he and his family got put in witness protection,” said one viewer.
“He came back at a later date as he proved he was innocent and was cleared of all charges. I don’t understand why they have put that [he’s in hiding] either,” added another.
“Have you thought that he’s on the run and hiding from something else?” said a third.
“Maybe what they mean is hiding from the River Boys because we all know they all rely on Brax as he was the leader back then and because he wanted to start a new life and stay out of trouble they went into hiding.”
Regardless of what the exact storyline is, many fans are just happy that “one of Summer Bay’s most treasured couples” will be back.
“It will be really exciting to see Brax and Ricky return for a couple of episodes!” said one.
“Can’t wait to watch!!” added another.
Channel 7 hasn’t yet revealed exactly when these special episodes will air, only that it will be “coming soon to Seven and 7plus”.
