Emmerdale fans spot Ray detail that ‘makes no sense’ and will leave Laurel heartbroken

Emmerdale fans have noticed a puzzling Ray Walters storyline detail that has left them scratching their heads on the popular ITV soap.

Drug dealer Ray, portrayed by Joe Absolom, first appeared in the village earlier this year after Mackenzie Boyd reached out to him about purchasing a cannabis crop found at Lewis Barton’s property.

However, when the meeting took place, Ray encountered Robert Sugden instead. Behind the backs of Mackenzie, Lewis and Ross Barton, Robert pinched the cannabis plants and offloaded them to Ray.

Ray wanted additional drugs but Robert maintained it was a single transaction. Ray even dispatched ’employees’ Dylan Penders and an associate to search Butlers Farm for further drugs or valuables, suspecting Robert of dishonesty.

Since that time, Ray’s sinister nature has been revealed, along with that of his mother, who was exposed as Celia Daniels.

Ray and Celia have been exploiting Dylan and April Windsor under the guise of settling their supposed “debts”, a tactic intended to lure them into drug dealing.

The storyline became more sinister when Celia forced April into attending two prostitution jobs, where she declined to sleep with the clients and assaulted one of the individuals.

April believed she had killed the client, allowing Ray and Celia, who were aware the client survived, to use this information to manipulate the teenager further.

In the latest episodes, Ray has begun a relationship with Laurel Thomas, even celebrating Christmas Day with her and her loved ones. As their romance develops, viewers have highlighted a detail that ‘makes no sense’.

Soap fans are left puzzled as to why no one has informed Laurel about Ray’s illicit activities, particularly when both Mackenzie and Robert are aware of his true nature.

One viewer took to social media to question: “Ray first appeared as the buyer for the weed growing in Moiras barn. So was contacted by Ross Mack or Lewis. Why haven’t they given Laurel the heads up to what he is.”

In response, another user agreed: “That’s a very good point”, while others chimed in with: “Surely Robert has seen Ray since. Or even Mac” and “I had forgotten that. But you’re right. Makes no sense.”

Meanwhile, another soap enthusiast noted: “Ray has been in the coffee shop so Lewis must have seen him it was Lewis who started it all off with the cannabis!”, with others echoing: “Excellent point!” and “That is a really good point ! ! X.”

However, some viewers countered: “Probably because it was only weed, they probably don’t know the full extent of what he does” and “Because its just weed, I doubt they know he has April selling drugs or that he has paddys dad.”
