EastEnders to pay tribute to popular character 8 years after tragic death
EastEnders is set to pay a sweet tribute to late character Abi Branning in upcoming scenes as Walford remembers one of their own.
Siblings Oscar and Lauren are organising a memorial to mark the anniversary of their sister Abi, who died after a tragic accident in 2018.
The character played by Lorna Fitzgerald fell from the roof of The Vic with Lauren on Christmas Day 2017.
While Lauren survived the fall, Abi ended up in hospital, where she was declared brain dead. Her life support was turned off in January 2018, with Lauren also leaving the Square to relocate to New Zealand.

In new EastEnders scenes, Oscar and Lauren discuss a memorial to mark the anniversary of Abi’s death. Oscar invites their father Max, who promises he’ll come along later – but Max gets waylaid when his ‘date’ with Bea Pollard doesn’t go to plan.
After Linda Carter and her former high school frenemy Bea reunited, the duo smoothed over their differences.

To help Linda focus on her son Ollie, Max is taking Bea out, but he’s surprised when he realises she thinks their outing is romantic.
He decides to play along with it to help Linda, but Bea reads through his behaviour and vents with Honey Mitchell later on.
As a result of the date debacle, Max ends up in Lauren and Oscar’s bad books over his late arrival.

The Brannings and Beales prepare for Abi’s memorial, but Lauren tells Max he’s not welcome.
Later, Max hands her and Oscar a speech he’d written for the event and asks them to read it on his behalf.
