EastEnders star in disbelief as she celebrates huge achievement: ‘what a lucky woman I am’
Laura Doddington has said that she ‘cannot believe’ her luck as she celebrates one year since her debut EastEnders episode hit screens.
The actress, who portrays fan-favourite Nicola Mitchell on the BBC One soap, took to social media to share her joy over the epic milestone.
‘I still cannot believe my absolute luck that I get to play Nicola Mitchell,’ she wrote on Instagram, alongside a series of snaps from her time in the show thus far.
‘A year on screen today! Can’t imagine my life without this amazing character and the absolutely awesome team at Eastenders! What a lucky woman I am.’
It didn’t take long for Laura’s co-stars and fans to respond, with actor Aaron Thiara, who plays Ravi Gulati, writing: ‘I’m Team Dodders all day everyday.’
Balvinder Sopal, who in addition to EastEnders is also competing in this year’s Strictly Come Dancing, added: ‘And what a year!’, followed by a series of fire emojis.
Vicki Fowler star Alice Haig, meanwhile, wrote: ‘Queen Dodders x Happy Walford Birthday friend!’
Laura responded to her co-stars with a series of heart emojis.
It’s safe to say it’s been quite a year for Laura’s on-screen counterpart Nicola, who rocked up in the Square as the latest addition to the newer branch of the Mitchell clan.
Nicola proved a true force to be reckoned with, having secretly played a role in the death of her son Harry’s (Elijah Holloway) girlfriend Shireen.
What’s more, her son Barney (Lewis Bridgeman) was the biological son of Square favourite Zack Hudson (James Farrar), which her husband Teddy (Roland Manookian) only discovered after he’d reunited with her.
After some time away from our screens, Nicola returned to Walford this week and attempted to build bridges with George Knight, who she had a brief fling with earlier this year.
George, however, shut her down, refusing to let her back into his life. Later, viewers saw Nicola alone as she revealed a positive pregnancy test.
