EastEnders drops another huge hint of a ’00’s character return
EastEnders is doing what it does best tonight, planting seeds, stirring nostalgia, and getting fans talking. And if tonight’s episode is anything to go by, the show is laying the groundwork for the possible return of a much-loved character from the 2000s: Spencer Moon.
The big clue comes straight from the heart of Walford, the Queen Vic. Alfie is on the phone, clearly rattled as he speaks to someone viewers quickly realise is Spencer. It’s a rare off-screen mention that immediately sets alarm bells ringing for long-time fans.
Alfie is clearly rattled by the phone call. While he and Kat already know that Vicki Fowler and Ross are back together and engaged in Albert Square, Spencer has only just found out from Australia, and it’s hit him hard. Even though Spencer and Vicki have been separated for some time, hearing the news from the other side of the world is still devastating.
Alfie can hear how upset his brother is, and it’s obvious the call leaves him shaken, too. Kat quickly picks up on his mood and presses him to explain what’s going on. When Alfie tells her that Spencer is struggling to process the news, Kat doesn’t hesitate. She gently suggests he should go and see him, properly see him, in Australia.

Without overthinking it, he books the flights.
The moment immediately sparks rumours, fuelling speculation that Spencer could finally be on his way back to Albert Square after all these years.
Spencer Moon, played by Christopher Parker between 2002 and 2005, arrived in Walford alongside Alfie and Nana Moon. He quickly became a fan favourite, kind-hearted, naive and often out of his depth.

His love life was anything but straightforward. He had a turbulent relationship with Vicki Fowler, including a storyline that saw her fall pregnant after a one-night stand with him, before later having an abortion.
Eventually, it all became too much. In early 2005, Spencer left Walford to live with his cousin Maxwell in Australia in a bid to stay out of trouble. For years, it was believed he and Vicki were living together in Sydney, until that narrative unravelled.
When Vicki returned to the Square in March 2025, she claimed Spencer had cheated on her. But a later phone call between Spencer and Alfie revealed the truth: it was actually Vicki who had been unfaithful, with Spencer’s best friend.
Now, with Alfie booking flights and Spencer’s name firmly back in circulation, it feels like EastEnders is edging closer to bringing him home.
