EastEnders spoilers follow for Wednesday’s episode (26 November), which is available to watch now on streaming service BBC iPlayer and hasn’t yet aired on TV.

EastEnders has aired some mysterious Anthony Trueman scenes that hint at a sinister plan involving Zoe Slater. Anthony has made a permanent return to Walford, but in recent weeks, he was seen making a suspicious phone call where it became clear that he was hiding a big secret from his loved ones.

Meanwhile, Zoe has been growing increasingly worried about the frightening threats she has been receiving. The discovery of a missing earring in the barrel store put Jean firmly in the frame, and tensions flared as Zoe accused her of being her stalker.

The harassment continued in today’s episode, as Kat, Alfie and Zoe were kept up all night by nuisance calls and texts – and Zoe was convinced that Jean was the mysterious caller.

The next morning, Kat and Alfie tried to convince Zoe that Jean wasn’t her tormentor, but Zoe remained firm and decided to call round to have it out with Jean herself.

Jean wasn’t open to talking and yet another argument broke out between them. As Jean raged, she broke a necklace that Anna gave to Freddie.

Freddie told Zoe about his plans to go travelling with Anna and she encouraged him to go – but Jean overheard and was heartbroken that another family member was leaving her.

Jean headed to The Vic and exclaimed that Zoe was putting ideas in Freddie’s head and trying to get him to leave her. With Jean’s mental health clearly suffering, Kat and Alfie advised Zoe to stop picking a fight with her.

Feeling completely alone, Zoe phoned Anthony to get some support. But as Anthony invited her round for a glass of wine, it was revealed that he was looking at a slideshow of photos of her on his computer.

That evening, Zoe and Anthony had a drink together, and thanking him for his unwavering kindness, Zoe kissed him.

The pair headed upstairs, but it appears that Anthony has less than pure intentions. Anthony previously tried to convince everyone that Zoe was having a psychotic break – but could he be her stalker after all?
