The actor is known for playing a murder suspect in the hit BBC crime drama but is now heading for the wards as a new resident doctor in the medical drama. He said it was a “dream” to be playing charmer Matty in Casualty, which is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year.
“I am absolutely buzzing to be joining Casualty as Dr Matty Linlaker,” said Aron. “It’s a dream job – fast, fun and full of heart – and I can’t wait for audiences to meet him. Saturday nights just got a little more chaotic.”
The actor appeared in the 11th series of Death in Paradise as possible killer Jason Clarke, who was tangled up in a kidnapping mystery.
His other screen credits include Moving On and DCI Banks and last year he played Stuart, a character in a two-part story in Silent Witness.

He is also no stranger to the stage and previously starred as Valentine Brown in the musical Quality Street. Aron has also been in productions of As You Like It, Rome and Juliet and A Christmas Carol.
He is joining the BBC series alongside Jasmine Bayes, who is known for parts in Doctor Who and Vera. She will play the unsure but capable Kim, who is also a new resident doctor facing the challenges of the emergency department alongside Matty.
“I am delighted to be joining the ED alongside Aron for Casualty’s 40th year,” said the actress. “The journey Kim goes on is far from simple, and I hope audiences are prepared to follow her into some troubled waters.”

Casualty’s new series looks set to include the usual drama, with a synopsis saying that “as the Emergency Department is overwhelmed and the CQC (Care Quality Commission) closes in, Flynn (Olly Rix) and Siobhan (Melanie Hill) must unite the team as tensions threaten to break it apart”.
Meanwhile, Faith (Kirsty Mitchell) and Iain (Michael Stevenson) struggle to overcome a new challenge in their relationship, as Cam (Barney Walsh) and Indie’s (Naomi Wakszlak) heats up.
