Coronation Street’s Lisa and Betsy face heartbreak ahead of Christmas Carla twist
Coronation Street stars Vicky Myers and Sydney Martin have revealed that their characters Lisa and Betsy Swain will face heartbreak over the Christmas period, as they come to terms with Carla Connor’s sudden exit.
Following her sad split with Lisa, Carla decided to leave Weatherfield during the festive celebrations, heading on a last-minute solo holiday to Lanzarote.
It seems that Carla has moved on, even asking Lisa to remove her from the mortgage, and in an exclusive chat with us at Inside Soap, Vicky explained that her character is in turmoil as Christmas approaches.
“Lisa’s not coping very well,” she said. “She’s trying to get hold of Carla, but she’s been constantly ignored bar the odd message, and she’s seen pictures on social media of Carla living her best life.

“Becky’s manipulation is ever more prevalent because Lisa’s with her constantly. Lisa’s frightened of making a mistake where Becky’s concerned, but she definitely wants to get back with Carla.”
It’s also a difficult time for Betsy, and Sydney explained that the teenager is struggling to cope with the loss of another parental figure from her life.
“Carla and Betsy had this relationship that was different to Lisa and Betsy’s,” she said, “so it’s a big loss, and Betsy has a lot going on right now. For someone so young to be tackling all of this, then to lose the support system she has in Carla, it’s heartbreaking, but it’s also a really awkward position to be in.”

As Becky attempts to win Lisa back, Lisa is determined to save her relationship and sends Carla another text. But there’s a shock in store on Christmas Day when Roy confirms that Carla never checked into her hotel abroad, with her whereabouts completely unknown.
“Lisa is trying to get hold of Carla but then there’s a twist; something that Becky has done to manipulate the situation,” Vicky teased.
“Don’t forget, this woman has been undercover, she knows very well how to manipulate and lie convincingly. All I can say is that Becky is the puppet master in all of this…”
