Coronation Street’s Cait Fitton has paid an emotional tribute to her granddad following his death.

The actress, who is 23, has been playing the role of Lauren Bolton in the ITV soap since 2022.

The character was first introduced to us in the middle of a storyline that saw Max Turner (Paddy Bever) manipulated into joining a far-right extremism gang. Lauren was the daughter of a member of the group.

When her dad was sent to prison, Lauren found herself without a roof over her head. She connected with Max, who worked hard to help Lauren get back on her feet.

Away from the world of Coronation Street, Cait recently shared a moving post on her social media after a relative’s funeral.

On her Instagram Stories, Cait shared an image paying tribute to her Granddad. The picture showed a football shirt, and a ‘Greatest Granddad’ cushion as well.

In the heartfelt message, Cait said: ‘Said goodbye to my hero today. My best mate till the day I die, always and forever your little dancing queen RIP GDAD’.

In 2024, Lauren was part of a massive storyline that saw Weatherfield residents assume she had been murdered.

Beloved café owner Roy Cropper (David Neilson) was sent to prison for the crime but when Lauren turned up alive, we eventually learnt that she had gone through a truly horrific ordeal.

Lauren was groomed by a man called Joel Deering (Calum Lill), who worked as a local solicitor. To keep herself safe from Joel, who had a violent side to his personality, Lauren ran away.

The character fell pregnant with Joel’s baby. The evil man never went to prison for his crimes, as Lauren ended up killing Joel.

Fortunately, as she’s recovered from this, life for Lauren has been relatively quiet over the past year.

In upcoming episodes, things become exciting for Lauren as she goes on a date with Ollie Driscoll (Raphael Akuwudike).

After a successful date together, Ollie invites Lauren to a student party in Fallowfield. When Lauren excitedly gushes to Betsy Swain (Sydney Martin) and Carla Connor (Alison King) about her upcoming second date, Betsy offers to lend her some clothes.

Is a new romance about to begin for Lauren?
