Coronation Street reveals a big update for Tyrone after his shock accident

Coronation Street has revealed a big update in Tyrone Dobbs’s storyline, with the beloved figure set to return home following his shock accident – will the benefits of home comfort aid his recovery?

The character was involved in a shocking hit-and-run incident earlier this month, with it initially appearing that Dylan Wilson and Brody Michaelis were responsible for the situation.

As it became clear that they weren’t responsible for the collision, it was revealed that Tyrone’s close friend and colleague Carl Webster was hiding more secrets, with the figure seen torching the vehicle to conceal evidence.

Tyrone has been recovering in hospital ever since, with his family rallying around him on the road to recovery. After suffering a severe spinal injury, Tyrone worryingly remarked that he couldn’t feel his legs.

Next week’s scenes will see an update in the storyline, with Tyrone returning home with the use of a wheelchair. In a first-look picture, he is being supported by Fiz, Debbie Webster and Brian Packham, with Carl also keeping an eye (perhaps for other reasons).

While Tyrone continues his recovery, actor Alan Halsall previously spoke of the storyline, which has seen the ITV soap work with charity Spinal Injuries Association to create a thorough arc.

“The show’s brilliant at doing the research,” said Halsall, who has played Tyrone since 1998. “The thing is with a spinal injury, though, is that they’re different for every single person.

“So speaking to the medical professionals who are on set, I’m wanting to know ‘how much can I turn my shoulders? How much can I turn my head?’ But everybody has a different reaction to their surgery, and therefore there is no real timeline.

“It’s [about] being aware that there are people at home who this has happened to for real. The charity is also arranging for us to meet someone who has been living through a similar situation so it will be invaluable to get some insight from them.”

The actor, who has also appeared on I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!, shared that his character – along with the rest of his family – would be eager to find out who was responsible for the incident.

“There’s definite frustration there as to who has done this and anger that the police can’t come up with any answers,” he said. “He’d like some form of justice for this accident and to at least find out who it was. That’s definitely the case for the whole family.”
