Coronation Street legend ‘to return’ for Debbie Webster’s wedding 35 years after debut

Coronation Street could be welcoming back a soap legend for Debbie Webster’s wedding, according to fans.

Debbie (Sue Devaney) first appeared on the soap way back in 1984, as the sister of Kevin (Michael Le Vell). She ended up leaving a year later, only to make a return in 2019.

And it’s fair to say Debbie has become a firm favourite with fans. However, over on the soap recently, the beloved cobbles resident has had a dramatic few months.

At the start of the year, Kevin’s world was turned upside down when he was diagnosed with testicular cancer. Then, Kevin and Debbie’s estranged brother Carl (Jonathan Howard) showed up after living in Germany for years.

However, in heartbreaking turn of events, Debbie was then diagnosed with vascular dementia, for which there isn’t a cure. However, Debbie is determined to live her life to the full and has her family supporting her.Coronation Street legend 'to return' for Debbie Webster's wedding 35 years after debut - Daily Star

She also got engaged to partner Ronnie Bailey (Vinta Morgan) and is currently in full-on planning mode for their big day. What’s more, in October, the cast was seen filming the wedding episode on location.

As well as Debbie and Ronnie, other characters spotted on set at a church included her loved ones like Carl, Kevin, Sally Metcalfe (Sally Dynevor) and Bernie Winter (Jane Hazlegrove).

However, fans can’t help but think a former cobbles resident will be making an appearance at the wedding, 35 years after their debut. On a Coronation Street Facebook fan page, viewers have predicted Debbie’s niece Rosie Webster (Helen Flanagan).

“With the soap filming on location (they rarely do) for Debbie’s wedding could something big be happening?” mused one person. Someone else added: “Hmm you might have a point. Rosie’s return?” A third chimed in: “Yes! Get her back asap.”

Rosie is the eldest daughter of Sally and Kevin. She appeared on the soap from 1990 to 2018, and played a part in several big storylines – from her many romances to being kidnapped.

She was last seen in 2018, when she left Weatherfield for a new life in Japan, after being scouted by a modelling agent to host a TV game show.
