Coronation Street could be bidding farewell to soap legend Gary Windass in a shock murder twist.

Gary (Mikey North) made his debut on the ITV soap way back in 2008. Gary rocked up to the cobbles with the rest of the Windass family, including mum Anna (Debbie Rush). And it didn’t take him long to become a firm favourite.

The builder also played a part in several big storylines over the years. From his failed romances on the cobbles to his PTSD battle, Gary’s time in Weatherfield has not been short of drama.

Especially at the moment, as in Sunday’s episode (Match 29) Gary found out the truth about his friend Theo Silverton (James Cartwright) who has been abusing his partner Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce) for several months.

As fans will recall, Theo’s true colours were exposed earlier this week after George Shuttleworth (Tony Maudsley) overheard one of Theo’s angry outbursts at Todd.

George then confided in Christina Boyd (Amy Robbins), Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby) and Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien) about his fears that Theo’s been abusing Todd. Sarah then told Gary who wasn’t sure at first about the allegations.

However, after the evidence started mounting up, Gary was left livid and later spotted Todd heading into the flat. Gary then offered to come inside with him but at the flat Theo was unaware he had a guest and started shouting abuse at Todd.

Realising Gary was there, Theo attempted to backtrack. But Gary then confronted him about what Sarah told him before warning Theo that he would get revenge if he found out that what Sarah was saying was true.

He told evil Theo: “I’m onto you, Theo, we all are,” before leaving.

However, fans can’t help but think that Gary could be headed for a shock soap exit. On a Coronation Street Facebook fan page, viewers suspect Theo could kill Gary, in what would be a heartbreaking twist.

“I’m worried for Gary, Theo is evil,” said one person. Another chimed in: “Has Gary his match with Theo? Maybe Theo accidentally kills him or something.” A third penned: “Oh don’t say that! I love Gary.”

Someone else wrote: “I definitely think a fight is going to happen, maybe murder and that’s why Theo leaves, he gets sent to prison?” referring to the news that Theo will be exiting the soap later this year.
