Casualty teases devastating crash and pregnancy in shock first look of new series

A thrilling trailer has been unveiled for Casualty’s upcoming boxset, “Internal Affairs”, showcasing a surprise pregnancy and a heart-stopping ambulance crash in the Emergency Department.

Following the season finale last week, the new episodes kick off this Saturday, March 15, introducing viewers to new clinical lead Flynn Byron, portrayed by Olly Rix of Call the Midwife fame.

Before assuming his new role, Flynn is wheeled into the hospital as a patient, with the trailer providing a glimpse of the severe accident he’s involved in during the premiere episode. Tensions rise as Dylan cautions the new boss that the ED isn’t a war zone, prompting Flynn to retort, “Maybe it takes an outsider to see what needs to be done?” This friction seems set to escalate, as evidenced by a later scene where Flynn pins a colleague against the wall in a fit of rage.

Flynn’s connection to surgeon Russell Whitelaw, played by Robert Bathurst of Cold Feet, is also revealed, with Russell reminding Flynn, “I put my reputation on the line backing you for this job.”

Russell’s exacting approach in the operating theatre creates tension between Rida Amaan and Nicole Piper, both part of his team. However, as Rida becomes increasingly ruthless, she’s left shaken by a workplace incident.

On a more celebratory note, it appears that Iain Dean and Faith Cadogan’s wedding will take place during this series, bringing some joy to Holby. However, the ED itself faces a dire threat when an ambulance crashes directly into the hospital, putting the entire team in peril.

Meanwhile, Stevie Nash is seen struggling in this new series, adding to the drama and tension that’s set to unfold. Following the demise of Rich Walker, Stevie is confronted with another predicament as she finds herself being searched by the police in her own home, suspecting that someone is out to get her.

However, there’s another significant turn of events for Stevie. A snippet from the trailer reveals her holding a positive pregnancy test, looking visibly distressed.

In the meantime, Indie Jankowski reaches her limit and is seen causing harm to an already wounded patient. The question arises: who is this man, and does he share a connection with the student paramedic?

Ahead of joining the show, Olly said: “Flynn crashes into the world of it from a very different background, resulting in a complex and exciting story in Internal Affairs and beyond. It’s a brilliant new chapter for the show and I am excited for the audience to get to know Flynn.”
