Viewers of BBC series Casualty were left in tears following the latest episode on Saturday, February 1 which aired the aftermath of a brutal attack.

The long-running medical drama showed Siobhan, played by former Coronation Street star Melanie Hill, dealing with the aftermath of the previous week’s shock twist when she was attacked.

Previously, viewers saw Siobhan tell Flynn, played by Call The Midwife star Olly Rix, to go home for his daughter’s birthday following a busy shift, saying she would take care of the day’s paperwork.

After working late into the night, she left the hospital and was pushed to the ground by a mysterious stranger. As her screams echoed, the episode ended.

In the follow-up, Siobhan struggled to pick up the pieces in the wake of her attack, and was forced to reveal what happened as the traumatic memories impacted on her ability to work.

Following the latest episode, the official BBC Casualty Instagram and X accounts shared a valuable update to fans who may have been affected by the harrowing storyline.

Meanwhile fans rushed to praise the Casualty team and, in particular, Melanie, for the powerful storyline. On X one wrote: “God I cried my eyes out watching that. I was fine till she told Flynn and then the floodgates just opened. Melanie hill is a powerhouse and I love the dynamic between her and Ollie (sic) as Siobhan and Flynn. Well done to everyone involved.”

A second said: “What a brilliant episode of Casualty and well done for Siobhan for telling someone what she went through. Melanie Hill should get an award for playing Siobhan.”
