BBC EastEnders fans baffled by Patrick and Yolande star’s real-life age gap

EastEnders viewers have been left stunned by the real-life age difference between Rudolph Walker and Angela Wynter, who portray Patrick and Yolande Trueman on the show.

Patrick, played by Rudolph Walker, has been a mainstay on the BBC One soap since his first appearance in 2001, quickly becoming a fan favourite.

The much-loved character has been involved in numerous major storylines, from family disputes to the tragic death of his son Paul, portrayed by Gary Beadle. Patrick’s tenure in Walford has certainly been eventful.

Likewise, Angela Wynter’s character Yolande has won over fans since her debut in 2003. Two years ago, Yolande made a comeback to the soap, reigniting her relationship with Patrick.

Earlier this year, Rudolph Walker, who plays Patrick in EastEnders, shared his thoughts on the upcoming developments in the world of soap operas. Speaking to Best of British magazine, he said: “We have a new executive producer, Ben Wadey, who is fantastic.”

He continued: “In fact, the last executive producer was also fantastic, Chris Clenshaw, and he’s built EastEnders up to a quality that is just unbelievable, using all the actors.

“Ben is great. He’s come in. He’s very positive about the future of EastEnders. And I have very high hopes that we are going to see things that maybe we’ve never seen on television before. Or if we did, it hasn’t been highlighted. I think we’re going to see a lot more of that. There are lots of surprises and more to come from EastEnders over the months and years.”
