Coronation Street‘s Debbie Webster learns about Carl and Abi’s affair in tonight’s episode, but how does she react to the news that her brother has been sleeping with their other brother’s wife?

The latest episode began with Abi waking up on the sofa after telling Kevin that their marriage is over (but not that it’s because of Carl). It’s also her birthday, and Jack makes a fuss with a present and the promise of tea and cake, but Kevin brings the mood down.

In the Kabin, Abi walks in on Debbie gossiping with Rita Tanner and Jenny Connor, and when paying for her shopping she accidentally drops a hotel keycard, something immediately noticed by Debbie.

Debbie follows her back to the garage and demands to know why she’s got the keycard, and Abi tries spinning a yarn about having had it for ages after staying there previously, but Debbie’s not buying.

Carl backs up the ruse by insinuating that Debbie just forgot Abi stayed there due to her dementia, which works, but gets under Abi’s skin. “That was pretty ruthless,” she tells him.

Debbie then gets a call about some broken CCTV and, while investigating, sees footage of Abi in the corridor. She goes to Carl’s room for a chat, and James manages to escape just before she arrives.

Carl pretends he can’t answer the door because he’s “feeling a bit rough”, but Debbie responds: “Bit of rough more like. Name of Abi.”

She accuses him of tampering with the CCTV to hide the fact he’s sleeping with Abi, and finds a condom on the floor. “If you try lying to me, or making out I’m confused again, I will check all the footage in this hotel, and find out just exactly how long this has been going on.”

In order to keep his flings with James secret, Carl opens up about his affair with Abi. He even says that he “thinks” he’s in love her, but Debbie thinks it’ll be over in a few months like all his other girlfriends.

Back at the Webster house, Debbie turns up to have a go at Abi over their “mucky little affair”, which prompts Abi to say that she loves Carl and they are planning on making a life together. That’s when Kevin and Jack walk in.

Debbie rages at Abi and demands she moves out, but stops short of mentioning the affair. She then meets with Carl in the Rovers and issues him an ultimatum: “I want you to call it off with her. Then our Kevin never needs to know… Please Carl, just walk away from her.”

What will Carl choose to do?
