‘Young & the Restless’ Melissa Claire Egan Wants Adam & Chelsea to Break Up – Here’s Why
Things have been going smoothly for Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) and Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) for quite some time now, much to the delight of “Chadam” fans. However, if Melissa Claire Egan had her way, she’d actually want the couple to break up on “The Young and the Restless.”
The actress made the intriguing remark during an interview with Woman’s World, explaining why she believes a breakup would actually be good for Adam and Chelsea.
Egan, 44, admitted that Chelsea and Adam’s current romance hits different this time, especially considering their tumultuous past.
“Adam was her first love interest, so the whole ‘Chadam’ connection has been imperative in my 14 years on the show, but this time feels different,” the actress mused. “They seem like they’re in the best place that they’ve ever been, because they’ve overcome so much — which any couple can attest will make you stronger.”
Chelsea and Adam Keep Each Other in Check
CBSEgan also acknowledged the fact that Chelsea and Adam have been keeping each other in check on “The Young and the Restless.”
It’s no secret that Chelsea has helped keep Adam on the straight and narrow, even to the point where he defied Victor Newman’s orders to use Newman Media to publicly attack his enemies.
As for Adam, he’s been Chelsea’s rock, especially during her struggles with mental health and the challenges involving their son, Connor Newman.
However, Egan pointed out that Chelsea has a dark side too, something that could easily cause problems down the road.
“Lately, she’s been the softer version of herself… but then, she can be savage, too,” the “Young and the Restless” star added. “She did used to be a con artist! So she’s always a little bit of both, depending on which mood you catch her. She ebbs and flows.”
‘The Young & the Restless’: Egan on Why ‘Chadam’ Needs to Break Up
While Adam and Chelsea seem to be in a great place in their relationship, Egan admitted that she’d like to see them part ways at some point.
“Eventually I want them to break up, but not because I don’t love it,” Egan told the outlet. “I hope Chelsea and Adam are endgame, and Mark Grossman [Adam] is fantastic, but we always joke, ‘We don’t want to be happy for too long.’ Because it’s so fun having someone wrong you on this show, or when you do something wrong. When you’re unhappy, you get the scoop!”
