Which CBS Shows Survived and Which Were Cancelled? Full 2026 TV Lineup Explained

The 2026 television season has turned into one of the most dramatic shake-ups CBS has seen in years. Between franchise expansions, surprise cancellations, and several high-profile renewals, fans have spent months wondering whether their favorite shows would survive. Now that CBS has officially unveiled its 2026–2027 lineup, viewers finally have a clearer picture of what’s staying, what’s ending, and what new projects are taking over primetime.
According to TV Guide’s full CBS fall schedule report, CBS is heavily leaning into proven franchises like NCIS, FBI, and Fire Country while slowly phasing out lower-rated experiments.
One of the biggest winners this year is the long-running FBI franchise. The flagship series earned another renewal and will return for Season 9, while its sister series CIA also secured a second season. CBS executives clearly believe viewers still have a strong appetite for procedural dramas centered around federal agencies, investigations, and action-packed storytelling.
The NCIS universe remains one of CBS’s strongest brands as well. The original series will continue with Season 24, proving once again that the military procedural still commands a loyal audience after more than two decades on air. Meanwhile, NCIS: Origins was renewed for another season, and the network is introducing the brand-new spinoff NCIS: New York as part of its expanding franchise strategy.
Another major success story for CBS is Fire Country. The firefighter drama continues to perform strongly in ratings and streaming numbers, earning another renewal alongside its connected universe. Its companion series Sheriff Country is also returning, while Boston Blue has already secured a second season. CBS appears determined to build interconnected TV universes similar to NBC’s “One Chicago” model.
Comedy fans also received encouraging news. Ghosts survived another renewal wave and will continue delivering its supernatural comedy mix into Season 6. Likewise, Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage remains a strong performer for the network and is officially coming back for Season 3.
Veteran reality staples remain safe too. Survivor will return with Season 51, while The Amazing Race continues as one of television’s longest-running competition franchises. CBS clearly sees unscripted programming as a reliable anchor for midweek scheduling.
However, not every CBS show survived the brutal 2026 cuts.
