This year on the cobbles, Theo (James Cartwright) arrived on the scene and quickly began a relationship with Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce). But it later emerged that Theo was married to Danielle (Natalie Anderson) and they shared two children, Millie (Kaitlyn Earley) and Miles (Lewis William Magee).

In a heartbreaking revelation, Theo opened up to Todd about living in the closet and disclosed he was subjected to conversion therapy in his youth.

The reality about Theo and Todd eventually surfaced and the pair have since set up home together. Yet their journey hasn’t been smooth, with the duo facing numerous challenges, reports the Daily Star.

Recent scenes have seen their romance take a sinister twist as Theo started exerting dominance over Todd. The situation is poised to deteriorate further for Todd as the mistreatment becomes violent.

Fans are now adamant they’ve identified who will expose Theo and rescue Todd – and it’s a beloved former character. On a Coronation Street Facebook fan group, one viewer commented: “Can’t stand Theo, everything about him screams narcissist.”

Another added: “Yeah he wouldn’t stand for it would he.” Jason, who first appeared on the soap in 2000, was last seen earlier this year when he returned as part of his mum Eileen’s (played by Sue Cleaver) departure storyline.

On the other hand, Gareth, who plays Todd, recently admitted his concerns for his character amidst the unfolding abuse storyline. He expressed: “Because Todd’s constantly calibrating what is normal and what is acceptable in the relationship.

“So very slowly things that are already crossing the line, that are already massive red flags are becoming slowly acceptable.

“That’s only going to get worse now at the point where it’s become physical and Todd is still able to convince himself that this is somehow fixable rather than a situation that he needs to walk away from.”
