Emmerdale has aired a shocking scene, lining up a new chapter for Dr Caitlin Todd and Jacob Sugden.

After their professional relationship broke down earlier in the week, things got even worse for Jacob, who has faced relentless criticism from his cruel boss, Dr Todd, in the past weeks.

In yesterday’s episode, Manpreet revealed to Dr Todd that Jacob had been groomed by his former teacher, Maya, when he was younger.

In today’s episode, Jacob spoke to Kerry, who confronted Dr Todd in yesterday’s episode, saying that Dr Todd had his best interests at heart.

“Dr Todd’s not out to get me, Kerry,” he said, adding: “She’s investing in me, it’s called mentorship.”

At work, things seemed to be getting back on a better footing with Dr Todd, when Jacob apologised for Kerry’s behaviour.

Dr Todd said: “Those that love us don’t often understand the commitment it takes to be a doctor, the sacrifices we have to make for the job.”

After Dr Todd asked if Jacob was willing to do what it takes, Jacob said: “Yes, really. I’ll do anything.”

She replied: “Well, there’s no need to do anything. I just want you to do your job and do it well. I know the lines between life and work can blur, Jacob, but I’m counting on you to be able to figure it out.”

After Jacob apologised to Kerry and made amends, things seemed to be looking up. However, Dr Todd was then seen researching details about Jacob and Maya on the hospital computer.

Looking forward to next week’s episodes, Jacob is dealt a nasty shock when he learns that Dr Todd has moved into the village after moving in with Vanessa Woodfield.

With his boss living so close by, Jacob looks set to face more challenges after she tells a shocking lie about his conduct.
