NEW UPDATE! Coronation Street star drops exit bombshell ahead of shock death story
Coronation Street star Jonathan Howard has dropped an exit bombshell, teasing that his character, Carl Webster, could be the one who meets his end as part of the ITV soap’s murder-mystery storyline.
Earlier this year, it was confirmed via a flashforward scene that Betsy Swain had found a dead body, with the possible victims being Carl, Jodie Ramsey, Theo Silverton, Megan Walsh and Maggie Driscoll.

The reveal is set to take place on the wedding day of Carla Connor and Lisa Swain on 23 April, but Howard has potentially indicated that his character may be the figure who meets their untimely demise.
In a post on Instagram Stories, Howard shared a behind-the-scenes photo from the set of the series, with the caption reading: “Last few days on Corrie before flying back to the States. It’s time!!”
The latest post comes just a day after Howard shared a photo with co-stars Alan Halsall, Vinta Morgan and Michael Le Vell, who portray Tyrone Dobbs, Ronnie Bailey and Kevin Webster respectively.
Some fans think that Howard’s presence on the set ruled Carl out from being the victim in the murder-mystery storyline, but his latest point would contradict that. Of course, the actor could merely be toying with everybody by dishing out red herrings!
“Looks like Carl doesn’t die in 2 weeks. Film 8 weeks in advance so thanks for the spoiler 🤣🕵️👀” wrote one fan in the comment section, while another noted: “Hoping you are staying on Mr Jonathan Howard!”
While it remains to be seen if Howard is telling the truth regarding his exit, all is set to be revealed later this month, with Corrie producer Kate Brooks teasing that it would be a “very complicated” and “very intricate” storyline.

“It’s our big thriller-esque story as we go into spring, early summer,” they said. “It will involve an awful lot of the community. I don’t think I’ve ever told a story that involves quite as many character groups.
“It’s everyone – everyone’s impacted, everyone’s affected by the story. There are so many twists and so many turns and it’s been a real challenge in some ways, because it is so complex and intricate.”
