Liam Cavanagh (Jonny McPherson) will never turn down an opportunity to help his best friend Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) in Emmerdale, even if that means risking his job.

Cain has spent the majority of this year without Moira Dingle (Natalie J Robb) by his side. Imprisoned for crimes she didn’t commit, Moira is facing the prospect of spending the rest of her life behind bars for double murder, and modern slavery charges.

Amid this stress, Cain has been dealing with his prostate cancer diagnosis. Moira knows about this now, and is doing her best to support her husband through phone calls and prison visits.

With his operation days away, Cain’s mind is full of worry. Recently in the ITV soap, he opened up to Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) about how his sex life may be impacted after the operation. He feared that Moira would view him differently, but Charity reminded him that intimacy doesn’t always have to mean sex.

The closeness between them is something Cain and Moira are really missing so in upcoming episodes, Liam creates a plan to help them.

At the prison, Moira tells Cain that her murder charges are likely to be dropped. The good news is overshadowed by another update from Moira, as she tells Cain that she’s still facing complicity in modern slavery, and also needs an MRI at the hospital.

When Moira arrives, Liam steps in. He hides Cain in the changing room and manages to orchestrate a situation that allows Moira to head in there without a police officer.

Liam leaves them to it and very quickly, Cain and Moira become intimate. Afterwards, Cain tells Moira about his fears regarding the operation. Moira reassures him and says whatever comes their way next, they will face together.

Happy and grateful he got to spend time with his wife, Cain heads off home. When he gets back, he gives Kyle (Huey Quinn) the keys for his newly running car and then makes his way to the hospital.

Just before he leaves though, Cain speaks to Moira. He chats about how he thinks everything will be okay but just as he utters those words, he’s hit by a car.

Terrified Kyle finds Cain unconscious. Still on the phone, Moira tries to figure out what’s going on.
