Though back on February 17 the star made a rather sentimental Instagram post that sounded like a goodbye.

In the post, Catherine shared a carousel of snaps featuring herself and her castmates on the programme.

The first image in the post shows Catherine herself facing towards the sea, eyes closed with a slight smile on her face.

She’s clasping her hands as if taking in the moment, marking the end of the show’s third season.

Though now the emotional post reads more as a farewell to the show in its entirety.

In the post’s caption, Catherine penned a message of gratitude, sharing: “Tonight!!! The final episode of season 3!!

“Channel 5 at 9pm! The Good Ship Murder.

“I have to give an extra special shout out to James and Geoffrey who are consistently brilliant actors but tonight they really shine and elevate.

“I adore working with you both. Hope you’ve enjoyed season 3 folks.”

She rounded off the post with another series of extending thanks, noting how she holds “so much gratitude” to everyone who made The Good Ship Murder possible.

Lastly, closing the message off, Catherine said: “To all cast and crew. What a joy. What an adventure.”

Catherine is set to make her final bow as Kate in the show’s upcoming fourth series.

The Good Ship Murder follows Jack Grayling, a former police detective, who is pursuing an exciting career as a cabaret singer on a lavish Mediterranean cruise ship.

But, when a string of brutal murders take place on board Jack is sucked back in to his old life as a detective.

Fans have so far seen Kate team up with Jack as they try to navigate solving murders while balancing their complicated romantic relationship.

The actress is set to fly out to Malta this spring and film the emotional final scenes.

Speaking on the end of Catherine’s era with the show, a source said: “Cath spoke to her bosses at Corrie about taking some time off to film her Good Ship exit and they agreed.

“When she agreed to return to the soap there was a lot of uncertainty about whether or not she would be able to go back, but fortunately it’s all working out.

“There was talk about possibly killing off her character but in the end bosses decided that she would get a happy ending.
