During the session, she remembered seeing a grey Mercedes speeding past, and she managed to visualise part of the number plate. That memory gave her the confidence that she wasn’t responsible for the crash. Her father, Sergeant David Langham, took the recollection seriously.

Though the details were limited, he began an off-the-record investigation, hoping it might lead to the person truly behind the incident. Using the vehicle description and the partial number plate, he started connecting the dots. The search led him to Craig Wendall, a local councillor. Wendall owned a grey Mercedes, and records showed he was in the area at the time of the crash. This information pushed David to look closer at the councillor’s involvement.

Craig Wendall Comes Under Scrutiny

Jeremy Lindsay Taylor, who plays David, explained that his character uncovers evidence linking Wendall to the crash. He stated that Wendall’s car matched Jo’s description and had the partial number plate she recalled under hypnosis. David also learned that Wendall had been nearby during the time of the accident. David then brought Wendall in for questioning. The interview left him suspicious, Wendall came off as evasive, offering very little while clearly trying to steer the conversation away from key facts.

David sensed that the councillor might be withholding information. Despite feeling close to a breakthrough, David’s efforts hit a wall. Wendall’s legal team issued a warning, telling him to drop the inquiry. On top of that, David’s own superiors advised him to step away from the case entirely. He was told to stop pursuing it without official approval.

Lacey Begins Her Own Search in Home and Away

While David debated whether to continue the investigation, his daughter Lacey took matters into her own hands. Unwilling to let the case fade away, she quietly entered the police station and accessed her father’s files without his knowledge.

She took photographs of the evidence her father had compiled, including details about Wendall and his car. Lacey decided to move forward with her own plan, determined to keep digging even if it meant keeping her father in the dark.
