Coronation Street’s Natalie Barnes’ return ‘sealed’ after 25 years in Kevin Webster twist
Coronation Street viewers are speculating the comeback of a soap icon to become Kevin Webster’s new love interest, following his break up with Abi.
It’s safe to say that cobbles stalwart Kevin (Michael Le Vell) has been through the wringer on the soap lately. This year, his world was turned upside down when he was diagnosed with testicular cancer.
His nearest and dearest quickly rallied around him, including wife Abi (Sally Carman) and sister Debbie (Sue Devaney), who herself was recently diagnosed with vascular dementia.
Moreover, Kevin and Debbie’s brother Carl (Jonathan Howard) made his first appearance too, after residing in Germany for several years.
However, it didn’t take long for Carl to stir up some trouble as Kevin’s wife Abi (Sally Carman) found herself falling for Carl, despite battling her feelings for her brother-in-law, reports the Daily Star.
The pair eventually succumbed to temptation and have been secretly dating each other, spurred on by Abi discovering Kevin lied about still having cancer.
But what Abi is unaware of, is that Carl has also been sleeping with James Bailey (Jason Callender) and is not as committed as she hopes.

In Wednesday’s episode (September 24) Abi decided to end things with Kevin, as she knew she wanted to be with Carl. Kevin was heartbroken by the news and accused Carl and Abi of having an affair.
Although he was correct, both Carl and Abi denied it when Kevin confronted them. Later on, the pair realised they should continue to keep their romance a secret.
Following the recent split between Kevin and Abi, Coronation Street fans have speculated about who might be Kevin’s next love interest on the cobbles. On a Corrie Facebook fan page, one viewer commented: “Poor Kev, let’s hope Carl bins Abi off and she comes crawling back to Kevin.”
Another fan suggested Natalie Barnes (Denise Welch) as a potential romantic partner. They posted: “They need to get Denise Welch’s character back to get back with Kevin!” A third agreed: “Natalie Barnes? She was ace.” Another added: “That would be a good idea.”
Natalie first appeared on the popular soap in 1997. As the lady of the Rovers Return, Natalie was embroiled in several major storylines and scandals, including her affair with Kevin Webster.
Moreover, the character’s wedding to Des (Philip Middlemiss) in 1998 attracted an impressive 20 million viewers. However, in 2000, Natalie bid farewell and left the cobbles.
