Amid a double affair twist and a tragic cancer battle, time has run out for one Weatherfield fan-favourite couple.

Abi Webster called it quits with Kevin on Coronation Street

She left him shocked when she insisted they must break-up

In scenes during the latest episode of the ITV soap opera, Abi Webster told her husband Kevin she wanted to break-up with him.

Kevin and Abi first began dating in 2018 and married on the soap in 2021 however it now appears apparent that they are headed for divorce following Abi’s split confession.

Viewers of the show know that Abi has been having a sordid affair with Kevin’s much younger brother, Carl Webster, over the past few months.

But while Abi has been plotting to leave Kevin for his brother, she has aimed to support him during his cancer battle.

Having received the good news that Kevin is firmly on the mend, Abi had a major wobble when Kevin began plotting things for their future.

It put life into perspective for Abi as it forced her to come clean and confess that she wanted them to split for good.

During an emotional conversation, Abi was left overwhelmed following Kevin’s suggestions that they buy a dog and begin fixing cars together over a long period of time.

She said to him: “Kev, first the dog, and now this?

“I am sorry but I can’t do any of it.”

As Kevin asked “why not”, Abi said to him: “Because I think we should break up.

“I am so sorry.”

Stunned Kevin said back: “I love you, and you love me.

“There’s no buts, we love each other, that’s all that matters.

“The rest is just stuff we can work on.”

As Abi attempted to explain her reasons for wanting to leave him, Kevin immediately jumped to thinking that Carl was responsible.

Kevin struggled to process the news

Lying through her teeth, Abi said: “You’ve got to listen to me, this has got nothing to do with anybody else.”

As Kevin refused to listen, Abi shot back at him for trying to find “someone to blame”.

Later, Kevin confronted Carl who also vehemently denied an affair.

Amid the shock of Abi’s bombshell, Kevin confided in Debbie about their split.

He also ranted to her that he still believed that Carl was responsible for having an affair with his wife.

But with Abi and Kevin now officially split, will she dive head first into a romance with Carl?

What Abi doesn’t know is that Carl has also been romancing former footballer, James Bailey, behind her back.

So will he keep James a secret or is Carl’s love life about to become even trickier?
