Coronation Street fans issue ‘don’t do it’ demand as they welcome ‘cute’ baby Connie

Carla opened the door of No.6 and was shocked to find a baby, only to find out it’s her niece

Coronation Street fans have been seen issuing a clear demand to show bosses after they were introduced to a ‘cute’ baby Connie during the first visit to Weatherfield this week.

During Monday’s (March 2) visit to Weatherfield, Carla opened the door of No.6 and was shocked to find a baby in a car seat on the doorstep. Lisa went after the woman, hurrying away, only to discover the baby was Connie, the daughter of Carla’s brother, Rob Donovan, and prison guard Mandy, who were involved in Carla’s kidnapping and Rob’s jailbreak last year.

Despite being sweet with the baby at first, when Carla found out it’s Rob and Mandy’s baby and that her partner had agreed that they’ll look after her, Lisa was very surprised by her fiancée’s reaction. Carla was adamant that Connie couldn’t stay and said that her grandmother couldn’t just leave her on the doorstep like she did.

It wasn’t until later that Carla shared how she was really feeling, telling her future wife about how she suffered a miscarriage in 2014. She opened up to Lisa about once being pregnant, with ex-husband Peter Barlow’s baby, and was excitedly looking forward to becoming a mum to a little girl, before suffering the heartbreaking loss.

The miscarriage came amid the reveal of her husband Peter’s affair, as well as the investigation into the murder of Tina McIntyre, who was killed by Carla’s brother. Fans may recall that Carla had watched a fight between Peter and Rob on the cobbles when she collapsed and was rushed to hospital, where the it was confirmed she had lost her baby.

“I was pregnant once,” Carla told Lisa. “A long time ago, when me and Peter first got married. For the first time in my life, I could actually imagine myself being a mum. I really wanted her.”

“They never really tell you a reason, but I knew what it was,” Carla, whose daughter would have now been 11, went on to tell Lisa. “At the time, it was Rob and Tina and Peter. A lot of stress. I’m only telling you this because I want to explain why I was a hard-faced cow earlier.”

Spoilers for this week’s Corrie episodes have already confirmed that Carla will warm to having Connie around, and fans are already hoping the little one stays around.
