Next week on Casualty, Iain and Indie face a terrifying shift, with a baby’s life at risk. Meanwhile, Siobhan gets devastating news about her case, while Matty and Kim both struggle in the aftermath of their lumbar puncture disaster.

1. Jan answers a terrifying call

Following the latest CQC inspection failure, the ED is closed to major trauma at night, and Jan is forced to divert ambulances to St James’ hospital. She gets a shock when she answers a call and hears a scream from a woman begging for help for her baby.

Iain is in a positive mood as he tells Indie that he and Faith have decided to co-parent their unborn baby. But he struggles to contain his emotions when the pair arrive at a callout and find distressed Emma, whose baby Micah has been crushed.

2. Siobhan gets bad news

Siobhan is devastated when DI Hughes tells her that the CPS are dropping the charges against her attacker Chris, due to the problem with DNA evidence. She struggles to process that Chris will walk free, and she relays this news to Flynn and Cam.

With little to do in the quiet hospital, Siobhan distracts herself by adjudicating a race in the corridors with Flynn, Cam, Jodie and Nicole. But when she looks at the CCTV footage to check who won, Siobhan spots something that makes her blood run cold…

3. Matty can’t move forward

Matty’s confidence has been knocked by the botched lumbar puncture that left a woman paralysed and resulted in the failed inspection – and the rest of the team are cold towards him and Kim. Matty doesn’t want Dylan to leave him alone with a patient but storms off humiliated when his mentor (and dad) corrects his treatment plan.

Dylan is later given food for thought, and sets out to find struggling Matty – will he be able to help?

4. Iain and Indie face a dilemma

Iain and Indie rush to take baby Micah to St James’, but as his condition deteriorates, Iain doesn’t think they have time to get to the further away hospital. He requests permission to divert to Holby, and Stevie eventually agrees to take the patient when Jan makes clear that a baby’s life is at risk.

But the situation gets even worse when Iain’s ambulance breaks down in a tunnel, and he and Indie are forced to improvise. Can they save Micah?

5. Stevie and Kim treat a familiar face

Stevie makes a cutting comment towards Kim about her misreading the lumbar puncture instructions and leaves the resident feeling even more guilty. The pair team up when Bryn, the victim of domestic abuse they previously treated, turns up at the hospital with blood pouring from a head injury.

What has happened to Bryn now? And will someone uncover that Stevie is hiding a worrying secret?

6. Rida makes a discovery

Rida finds out that if the ED fails the next CQC inspection, the department will lose two members of staff – including someone on the nursing payroll.
