Vinny and Penny bonded more than ever in EastEnders as they make a life-changing decision

EastEnders spoilers follow for Thursday’s (February 26) episode which is now available to stream on BBC iPlayer.

Penny Branning (Kitty Castledine) and Vinny Panesar (Shiv Jalota) were left hopeful for their future as they talked things over and made a big decision.

Earlier this week, Penny discovered that she was pregnant with Vinny’s baby, which led to a number of conversations with her loved ones as she attempted to process the news.

‘The reality of potentially becoming a disabled young mum is overwhelming and hard to take in,’ star Kitty Castledine said. ‘She goes through waves of emotion, just like many new mums do when they find out they’re unexpectedly pregnant.

‘The more she opens up to people, the more she realises she has a support network around her. She also wants to buy herself some time to process everything and figure out how she truly feels about it and what she plans to do.’

One person who proved much more supportive than she is expected was Vinny, who asked all the right questions and made it quite clear that she should prioritise her own feelings before everyone else’s.

The businessman admitted that he really likes Penny and that he’s scared of messing things up. Taken aback by such a response, Penny agreed to let him accompany her to her doctors appointment as she attempted to work out what she wanted to do.

At the GP surgery, the doctor explained that Penny would need extra monitoring if she were to go through with the pregnancy. Penny felt sidelined as he explained the situation to Vinny more so than her.

Vinny was quick to point out that Penny can be the one to tell them what she needs.

The doctor subsequently apologised to Penny and asked if a referral to a specialist midwifery team is something she would like, to which Penny responded not just yet’.

Later, she and Vinny discussed the possibility of having the baby together. ‘I want to be that person by your side, I want to help you go through this’, said Vinny, admitting that he does in fact want to be a dad.

Penny, meanwhile, revealed that she ‘thinks she wants this’ too. In emotional scenes, they kissed and told Gina Knight (Francesca Henry) and Harry the big news – they’re going to have the baby.
