Emmerdale delights fans in early ITVX release as an adorable new couple take the next step
The following article contains spoilers from the episode of Emmerdale dated February 24. It hasn’t aired on ITV1 yet, but can be viewed on ITVX.
Aw, nothing like a flock of sheep getting trapped in a barn to make you realise life really is too short and you should snog your housemate.
We’re looking at Vinny Dingle (Bradley Johnson) and Lewis Barton (Bradley Riches) of course, who decided to give into their feelings for each other during today’s episode of Emmerdale.
The chemistry between these two began bubbling away towards the end of last year. After his marriage to Gabby Thomas (Rosie Bentham) ended, Vinny gained two housemates in the form of Lewis and his brother Ross Barton (Michael Parr).
Living in such close proximity, Vinny and Lewis finding each other attractive was bound to get addressed eventually.

The backdrop for this was Butler’s Farm. When Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) headed out to check on the animals in the morning, he discovered the roof of a barn had fallen in, and a load of sheep were trapped inside.
He rallied the troops, which looked like Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb), Ross, Lewis, Vinny and Sarah Sugden (Katie Hill). There was quite a bit of arguing though, as Mr Genius himself Ross Barton announced that according to a Google search, they should wait for the professionals.
This wasn’t possible though, as the group knew the sheep would die if the roof completely collapsed, and none of them could afford to pay for someone to sort it properly.

It was quite chaotic but the team succeeded in freeing the sheep. On a high from a job well done, Lewis and Vinny turned to look at each other and, caught in the moment, shared a kiss.
It was super cute and after 2025, which featured Ray Walters (Joe Absolom) and Celia Daniels (Jaye Griffiths) wreaking havoc in the village, the happiness was absolutely needed.
This wasn’t the end of the progress though, as Vinny and Lewis headed home to discuss what happened on the farm.
Lewis was considerate of the journey Vinny has been on and said if he wasn’t ready for the next step, that’s absolutely fine. Vinny smiled – he was more than ready.
They held hands and headed upstairs.
Ship name then? Linny? Vewis? No. Linny.

Reflecting on how Lewis and Vinny would navigate a potential relationship, Bradley Riches told Metro: ‘Lewis has never had a boyfriend. As an actor you have to fill in the gaps sometimes so to me, Lewis has never needed to seek that. He’s always had his special interests, and he’s put his energy into those things. I think Vinny would be his first boyfriend, which will come with challenges.
‘Occasionally I think there will be a little bit of miscommunication as they try and adapt to each other’s languages. Once they get past that…I think they’ll be a strong couple. I don’t think Lewis and Vinny won’t have a honeymoon phase, they’ll just get straight into it because Lewis is very direct.
‘I think in the long run, that will be beneficial. They have the opportunity to be a strong and happy couple.’
