Why is Casualty not on TV tonight and when is it back? BBC return date confirmed

I don’t know about you but nothing says ‘Saturday Night’ to me quite like sitting down to watch Casualty with a cuppa.

As someone who has partaken in such a thing for the better part of three decades, I’d say it’s one of my favourite times of the week, so I get why fans find it rather frustrating to learn that the BBC One soap has been pulled from TV schedules.

The drama in the ED has been at an all-time high over the past few weeks (and that really is saying something!), with the CQC (Care Quality Commission) set to visit the hospital after newcomer Matty (Aron Julius) filed a report.

The situation was made worse when Ceri (Gwyneth Strong) was keeping a watchful eye over proceedings, informing Flynn Byron (Olly Rix) that he would have a month to get things sorted and under control before she returned for another inspection.

And this inspection would ultimately decide whether the department has a future – or if the staff will have any jobs left to go to.

No pressure!

The inspection in question will be at the centre of the next episode, but with Casualty not on TV tonight, viewers will have to wait a little bit longer to find out the outcome.

But when is Casualty back, I hear you ask? Luckily, we’ve got some answers for you about the reason why it won’t air tonight, as well as when you can expect it back on our screens.

Why is Casualty not on tonight?

Casualty is taking a brief hiatus, due to the Six Nations rugby tournament between Wales and Scotland.

The coverage will commence at 6pm on BBC One and conclude at 7:15pm, causing a knock-on effect with subsequent programmes as Gladiators will air in a later slot, followed by Michael McIntyre’s Big Show and new drama The Walsh Sisters.

When is Casualty next on?

The good news for fans is that it’s only off screens for one-week, meaning Casualty will return to screens at 8:30pm on Saturday, February 28.

But as has been the norm for quite some time now, audiences can stream the episode from 6am on BBC iPlayer on the day of broadcast.

As mentioned earlier, the long-running drama’s returning offering will focus on the inspection as the CQC return to the ED.

The question is: will Matty and Kim (Jasmine Bayes) cause issues? Or will things go off without a hitch?
