Casualty confirms return date after break – here’s when the next episode will air

Casualty has confirmed when the show will return after a short break – and viewers don’t have long to wait for the next episode. This Saturday (21 February), the medical drama will be off our screens due to schedule changes as a result of the Six Nations rugby tournament airing on BBC One.

But the BBC has confirmed that this break will only be a brief one, as the latest schedules show that episode 7 of the current boxset, ‘Learning Curve,’ will air on Saturday, 28 February.

The new episode will air at 8.30pm on BBC One and will also be available to stream on BBC iPlayer from 6am that morning as usual.

A short teaser for the upcoming episode reads: “The pressure is on for Flynn when the CQC make their return, but will a spiralling Matty and Kim get in the way?”

Holby ED has been facing one of its biggest challenges yet in this dramatic boxset, since new resident Matty reported the hospital to the Care Quality Commission (CQC) after his first shift on rotation in the department.

Only fellow newcomer Kim knows it was Matty who made the complaint, but things went from bad to worse when the team failed the spot safety inspection after a series of disastrous events while Ceri was observing the ED.

Ceri gave clinical lead Flynn 30 days to get things sorted before she would return for an important reinspection that could decide the future of the department and the jobs of the staff.

We now know that the CQC will return in next Saturday’s episode, but the teaser lines suggest that Kim and Matty could throw a spanner in the works once again.

Kim is currently struggling with an eating disorder that she’s keeping a secret from her colleagues, and it’s started to affect her ability to do her job properly.

Meanwhile Matty is reeling from the news that his mentor Dylan is his biological dad. He told Dylan he already has a father figure, so the pair vowed to remain professional and ignore this life-changing bombshell.

With Kim and Matty both in turmoil, how will their actions affect the team’s performance in the reinspection – and what will this mean for the ED?
