Casualty airs heartbreaking Iain Dean romance twist in early iPlayer release

Casualty has aired a heartbreaking twist involving Iain Dean, as the paramedic makes a decision that could change everything in his relationship with his wife Faith. Things have been tough for Iain and Faith recently, who separated last year, with Faith’s past drug addiction driving a wedge between them again.

At the start of this boxset, it was revealed that Iain had moved out and was currently staying with Jacob. But the situation took a turn when Faith discovered that she was pregnant.

Faith eventually told Iain about her pregnancy, but when she explained that she wouldn’t be keeping the baby, he reacted badly. Iain later apologised and offered to go with Faith to her scan.

They found out that Faith was further along in her pregnancy than she thought and thus couldn’t have a termination. Iain pledged to stand by Faith, and in this week’s episode he took things one step further and suggested that they get back together.

Faith was concerned about his sudden change of heart, however, and proposed that it was their unborn baby that he loved rather than her. She told him to find somebody else to fix, leaving Iain devastated.

Later in the shift, Iain and Faith were forced to work together to get a young boy to give them important details about his dad, who was seriously unwell. Faith was touched by Iain’s ability to get through to the child, and the pair shared a nice moment.

Faith told Stevie about her pregnancy in the staff room, and Stevie advised her that her relationship with Iain and their expanding family unit was worth fighting for.

After witnessing a sweet proposal in the ED, Faith realised that Stevie was right, so that evening she went round to Jacob’s house to talk things through and officially give their relationship another chance.

But Iain wasn’t in, and was instead drowning his sorrows in a club. In a devastating final scene, we saw the paramedic passionately kissing a woman he had met that night. What does this mean for the future of his relationship with Faith?
