EastEnders’ Kellie Bright ‘doesn’t miss’ Danny Dyer after BBC exit for one reason
Kellie Bright has revealed she doesn’t miss her former EastEnders co-star, Danny Dyer. The actress and Danny played on-screen husband and wife Linda and Mick Carter from the day they joined the soap in 2020 until Linda served him divorce papers in 2022.
But while their characters may have had a rocky time due to Linda’s alcoholism and subsequently having a child with Walford love rat Max Branning (Jake Wood), Mick also moved on. He found himself falling for notorious soap villain Janine Butcher (Charlie Brooks), who was at the centre of his exit storyline.
Linda had exposed a string of Janine’s wrongdoings and cover-ups after she discovered Janine was responsible for her crashing her car. But Janine played a key part in Mick’s exit when he went missing at sea, and his body was never recovered, leaving Linda utterly devastated.

Now, four years on, she admits that she doesn’t miss BBC hard man Danny. “Danny and I are still firm friends,” she told the Mirror at the TV Choice Awards. Kellie went on to add: “So, I still speak to him all the time. So I don’t miss him as much.”
Recently, soap fans have been treated to a mixture of crossovers, including Corriedale, which saw ITV soaps Emmerdale and Coronation Street join forces for the very first time in an explosive episode. Elsewhere, Channel 4 treated viewers to a crossover of Hollyoaks and Brookside, which are both set in neighbouring cities, Liverpool and Chester.
Kellie has revealed that she wants EastEnders to collaborate with a show which is known across the globe. “I’d like to see EastEnders work with Stranger Things,” she exclaimed, before adding: “And have an ‘Upside Down’ Walford for all the dead people. And then we can have all those amazing characters back telling you something.”
This wouldn’t be the first time characters have returned from the dead on EastEnders. Most famously, Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth), who left the soap in 2000, left viewers gobsmacked in 2015 when she made a dramatic return.
Kathy had died off-screen in February 2006 after being involved in a car crash in South Africa. But on February 19, she appeared in the live episode as part of the soap’s 30th anniversary. It was revealed that she hadn’t actually died, but she had instead faked her own death.
She subsequently returned as a full-time character in the same year. Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins) also returned from the dead, despite having died during childbirth in 1998, which also turned out to be a fake death. Instead, Cindy had gone into witness protection to help her keep a low profile after snitching on the infamous criminal family, The Fords, while in prison, and it later emerged she’d secretly been living in Spain with her husband George Knight and two daughters, Gina and Anna.
But Cindy later vanished and walked out on her family after hearing that her daughter, Lucy Beale, had been murdered by her little brother, Bobby. It later emerged that Cindy had been secretly living in France and had reconnected with her old husband, Ian Beale
Michelle made a full-time return to Walford in 2023. And Angie Watts also returned from the dead lat year, almost four decades after Lady Anita Dobson bowed out of the soap opera.
