Carla, Becky & Lisa: Has Coronation Street finally gone TOO FAR with this love triangle?
Coronation Street turns Betsy Swain’s life upside-down in tonight’s episode as she discovers the shocking truth about her mum Becky.
Betsy is gobsmacked as she crosses paths with her “dead” mother in a tense moment at the Weatherfield Precinct – sending the ongoing story in a new direction.
Ever since Becky reappeared last week, her ex-wife Lisa has been adamant that their teenage daughter can’t know the truth about her fate.
In tonight’s episode, Lisa’s tough stance starts to become unsustainable – as even her new fiancée Carla Connor thinks she’s making the wrong choice.
Carla points out that Betsy is bound to find out the truth in the end and will only feel more heartbroken over being kept in the dark.
When Lisa still refuses to entertain the idea, Carla piles the pressure on by summoning Becky to No.6 to discuss the situation further.
Later, at the Precinct, Becky watches on with curiosity as Ryan Connor approaches Betsy.
Mistaking Ryan for a potential threat, Becky rushes in to protect her daughter and completely blows her cover.
Betsy’s in disbelief as she comes face-to-face with her mum after all this time – how will she cope with the shocking revelation that Becky didn’t die?
Speaking recently about Becky’s intentions, Amy Cudden – who plays the newcomer – told us: “Becky’s wife Lisa is about to get engaged and married to another woman, Carla. It was dangerous for Becky to return before, but her primary objective is to be with her wife and daughter.
“While there wasn’t a direct threat to that central family unit, she kept her distance. Now that Carla is a clear threat and Lisa and Carla are deeply in love, Becky feels she must return to try and reclaim her family even if that puts her at risk.”
Asked whether Becky has been tracking her family during her time away, she replied: “Yes, absolutely. I think if you saw her ‘screen time’ it would be 98 hours a week looking at Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and X, thinking about them.
“Her life in Alicante is hollow without them – nothing matters unless she gets her family back.”
