Death in Paradise star lands Casualty role he says is ‘full of heart’

Death in Paradise actor Aron Julius has told of his excitement after landing a role in Casualty.

Known for his portrayal of a murder suspect in the popular BBC crime drama, he’s now joining the medical drama as a new resident doctor. Aron described his new role as charming Matty in Casualty – which is marking its 40th anniversary this year – as a “dream”.

“I am absolutely buzzing to be joining Casualty as Dr Matty Linlaker,” he said. “It’s a dream job – fast, fun and full of heart – and I can’t wait for audiences to meet him. Saturday nights just got a little more chaotic.”

Aron graced the 11th series of Death in Paradise as potential murderer Jason Clarke, who was embroiled in a complex kidnapping plot.

His acting repertoire also includes roles in Moving On and DCI Banks, and last year he portrayed Stuart, a character in a two-part Silent Witness storyline, reports the Express.

No stranger to the theatre, Aron has previously taken centre stage as Valentine Brown in the musical Quality Street. His theatrical credits also include performances in As You Like It, Rome and Juliet and A Christmas Carol.

Joining him in the BBC medical series is Jasmine Bayes, recognised for her roles in Doctor Who and Vera. She will portray Kim, a new resident doctor who, despite her uncertainties, proves capable as she navigates the challenges of the emergency department alongside Matty.

“I am delighted to be joining the ED alongside Aron for Casualty’s 40th year,” said the actress.

“The journey Kim goes on is far from simple, and I hope audiences are prepared to follow her into some troubled waters.”

The upcoming series of Casualty promises the typical high-stakes drama, with a synopsis revealing that “as the Emergency Department is overwhelmed and the CQC (Care Quality Commission) closes in, Flynn (Olly Rix) and Siobhan (Melanie Hill) must unite the team as tensions threaten to break it apart”.

At the same time, Faith (Kirsty Mitchell) and Iain (Michael Stevenson) face difficulties overcoming fresh obstacles in their romance, whilst things between Cam (Barney Walsh) and Indie (Naomi Wakszlak) continue to heat up.
