Death in Paradise actor ‘buzzing’ as he lands ‘dream’ Casualty role

Death in Paradise actor Aron Julius has told of his excitement at joining the cast of Casualty.

The actor, who played a murder suspect in the popular crime drama, is now taking on the role of a resident doctor in Casualty, as it welcomes some new cast members.

Aron described landing the role of charming Dr Matty Linlaker in the long-running BBC medical drama, which is marking its 40th anniversary this year, as a “dream”.

“I am absolutely buzzing to be joining Casualty as Dr Matty Linlaker,” he shared. “It’s a dream job – fast, fun and full of heart – and I can’t wait for audiences to meet him. Saturday nights just got a little more chaotic.”

Aron made his mark in the 11th series of Death in Paradise, portraying potential murderer Jason Clarke, who was embroiled in a complex kidnapping plot.

His acting portfolio also includes roles in Moving On and DCI Banks, and last year he appeared in Silent Witness as Stuart, a character in a two-part storyline, reports the Express.

Aron’s talents extend beyond the screen – he has graced the stage in productions such as Quality Street, where he played Valentine Brown, and other classics like As You Like It, Romeo and Juliet and A Christmas Carol.

Joining Aron in Casualty is Jasmine Bayes, recognised for her roles in Doctor Who and Vera. She will portray Kim, a new resident doctor navigating the pressures of the emergency department alongside Matty.

“I am delighted to be joining the ED alongside Aron for Casualty’s 40th year,” expressed the actress. “The journey Kim goes on is far from simple, and I hope audiences are prepared to follow her into some troubled waters.”

The upcoming series of Casualty promises its usual dose of drama, with a synopsis revealing that “as the Emergency Department is overwhelmed and the CQC (Care Quality Commission) closes in, Flynn (Olly Rix) and Siobhan (Melanie Hill) must unite the team as tensions threaten to break it apart”.

In other storylines, Faith (Kirsty Mitchell) and Iain (Michael Stevenson) grapple with a new hurdle in their relationship, while things heat up between Cam (Barney Walsh) and Indie (Naomi Wakszlak).
