In the new series, the Emergency Department is pushed to breaking point. With the CQC closing in and pressure mounting from all sides, the future of the trauma department hangs in the balance. Flynn (Olly Rix) and Siobhan (Melanie Hill) are forced to unite a fractured team as rising tensions threaten to tear the ED apart from within.

Away from the chaos of the department, personal lives are just as turbulent. Faith (Kirsty Mitchell) and Iain (Michael Stevenson) face a fresh test in their relationship, while sparks fly as Cam (Barney Walsh) and Indie’s (Naomi Wakszlak) connection heats up. Meanwhile, the arrival of two new resident doctors promises to shake things up even further – but will they thrive under pressure, or fall at the first hurdle?

Joining the cast for this landmark run are Aron Julius (Death in ParadiseSilent Witness) as the disarming charmer Dr Matty Linlaker, and Jasmine Bayes (Doctor WhoVera) as Kim, an unsure but quietly capable new doctor. As part of the next generation of medics, both must navigate the relentless demands of the ED while grappling with their own personal obstacles.

Speaking about her new role, Jasmine Bayes said: “I am delighted to be joining the ED alongside Aron for Casualty’s 40th year. The journey Kim goes on is far from simple, and I hope audiences are prepared to follow her into some troubled waters.”

Packed with drama, action and emotional twists, the new series – titled Learning Curve – will explore themes of resilience, acceptance and the struggle to repair fractured bonds, both inside and outside the hospital walls.
