BEHIND THE TEARS: DANIEL BROCKLEBANK REVEALS THE HEARTBREAKING SECRET BEHIND BILLY’S FINAL MOMENTS!
Corriedale spoilers follow.
Coronation Street‘s Daniel Brocklebank has shared a special secret about Billy Mayhew’s shocking death scene. The resident vicar met his grisly demise during last night’s Corriedale crossover, when the mini-bus he was driving became part of a multi-vehicle collision.
Billy’s exit storyline began on Corrie as he discovered the extent of Theo Silverton’s abuse towards Todd Grimshaw. In the midst of Debbie Webster’s wedding, horrified Billy offered to take Todd back to Weatherfield and away from Theo.
However, as the mini-bus full of guests was ready to leave, they were caught by a menacing Theo who also climbed aboard. Driver Billy became distracted as he tried to protect Todd, causing the vehicle to crash and flip on its side.
While the other guests managed to escape the bus before it burst into flames, Billy was left trapped inside. Though Theo went back to save him, he later decided to leave his rival to die in the devastating explosion.

Following the crossover, Brocklebank appeared on Corriedale: Backstage Pass to discuss his final scenes as dearly departed Billy. He recalled his previous role on Emmerdale and how his last moments on both soaps shared a surprising link.
“Many, many years ago I was also in Emmerdale and I played a bisexual Geordie binman, with the most Welsh sounding name you’ve ever heard,” he told host Luis Elkes. “I couldn’t believe they didn’t want Ivan Jones to be Welsh. No, they did not.”

“Anyway, I filmed my very last scene in Emmerdale in, what was then, the Woolpack set. That mini-bus was in the Woolpack set, so I filmed my last scene in Corrie about a metre away from where I was sat filming my last scene in Emmerdale. How crazy is that? 20 years apart. Very cyclical.”
The actor starred on Emmerdale from 2005 to 2006, before his character Ivan left to begin a new life in Costa Rica. His tenure on Corrie lasted much longer, with Elkes revealing that Brocklebank had appeared in 1058 episodes since his arrival in 2014.
When asked his main highlight while playing Billy, Brocklebank shared: “In all honesty, just being here. It’s such a beautiful place to work. You are surrounded by wonderful people, day in, day out, and I’ve loved every second of it.”
