Coronation Street stars Sally Carman-Duttine and Jonathan Howard have exclusively spoken to Inside Soap about Abi Webster’s quest for revenge against Carl Webster.

On the day of Debbie’s wedding, Abi explosively confronted Carl about his web of lies – from cheating with James Bailey to plotting his escape from Weatherfield.

In response, Carl cruelly jibed her about the state of their relationship. Abi was clearly heartbroken by his words, but Corrie fans can be assured that the mechanic has her eyes set on revenge.

“Carl’s completely underestimated Abi,” says Sally. “I think he should be very worried! She’s certainly got a plan up her sleeve, and the quieter she is, the more worried he should be!”

That said, Carl is oblivious to the chaos coming his way, which is set to reach its climax during Monday’s highly-anticipated Corriedale episode.

“Sally’s constantly reminding me of what Abi can do when she’s pushed into a corner!” Jonathan tells us. “So, Carl should be very worried, but unfortunately, he thinks he’s the biggest, baddest guy going, so he’s not conscious of the trouble he’s making for himself.”

Whether or not Abi manages to enact revenge remains under wraps, but Sally herself would love to see her character unleash hell on Carl.

“I hope she goes all the way, I really do!” smiles the actress. “I hope it just carries on and on, and he wishes he never set eyes on her! Whatever pain and destruction is caused, I hope she absolutely gets him back in the best, most horrible ways that Abi is capable of!”

On the other hand, Jonathan is hopeful that his alter ego might somehow rebuild his reputation – if Carl makes it out of Corriedale alive, that is…

“I hope the revelations that are going to come out about what happened to his mum and his family could give him an arc of redemption,” he shares. “I certainly hope so, because I’m a romantic and I like everyone to get along! But it also depends on whether Carl survives the crash…”
