Coronation Street‘s Abi Webster didn’t have a great Christmas this year, as she learned that her boyfriend Carl — who she got with by having an affair behind husband Kevin’s back — was having an affair behind her back!

Having upended her entire life for Carl, Abi was stunned to learn that her other half has been secretly sleeping with James Bailey.

Rather than go in all-guns blazing, Abi is keeping her knowledge close to her chest, giving nothing away as she tells Carl that she’s going shopping in this week’s episodes.

However, while out and about, Abi has a tearful breakdown about her relationship… witnessed by none other than Tracy Barlow!

Having been completely blindsided by her recent discovery, an emotional Abi leans on her unlikely confidant.

But what will Tracy suggest? Will she give Abi some helpful advice, or will she encourage Abi to seek revenge?

The latter option certainly wouldn’t be out of character for Tracy, but maybe she’s mellowed a bit as the years have gone on, or believes Carl isn’t worth the trouble.

Carl is set to be a part of Corriedale, the upcoming crossover episode between Coronation Street and Emmerdale, and his actor Jonathan Howard has teased that the special might feature his character’s downfall.

“I think the writing’s on the wall for Carl. I don’t know if I’m going to survive this or not,” he exclusively told Digital Spy.

“I’m really excited to be a part of it. Carl and Abi’s storyline is kind of coming to a climax with Debbie and Ronnie’s wedding. It’s building to something…”

Meanwhile, co-star Michael Le Vell has stated that his character Kevin will survive the crossover’s dramatic events, as he’s just signed another 12-month contract.
