Coronation Street has aired more drama for Abi Webster following the breakdown of her marriage due to her affair with Carl, as her estranged husband Kevin prepares for another major confrontation.

Tonight’s episode kicked off with Abi questioning Carl, asking him if he’s happy. She claims that their situation “isn’t exactly a rock and roll lifestyle” at the moment, and while he says it’ll get better, she admits to feeling like there’s a “distance” between them.

“Life, innit? Work, commitments, pressure and all that. And then there’s Debbie,” he replied, once again playing up how bad her dementia is to manipulate things.

He promised a sexy afternoon for the two of them, and an excited Abi gets ready to drop Alfie off at a nursery.

She returned home and was delighted to find that Carl has covered the flat in candles, and he apologised for being distant as they started kissing.

“We’ve got something special, you know? Never forget that,” he whispered to her, as they reminisced about the timeline of their affair.

She nipped off to the loo to slip into something more comfortable as he turned his phone off, determined not to be disturbed.

However, their passion did end up getting interrupted when Kevin came home with Alfie.

He said that the nursery had tried to contact her as the youngster was poorly, and he had to collect Alfie as they couldn’t get hold of Abi.

Raging at Abi, Kevin said: “A mistake is something that happens once, maybe twice, but every other day is not a mistake, it’s normal life for Abi. It’s one thing after another for you.

“What’s not fair is me constantly having to clean after her mess. Alfie deserves something better. And you know what, I’m gonna make sure he gets something better. You’re not fit to be a mother. I’m gonna apply for full custody.”

Later on, Abi wondered if Alfie would be better with Kevin, but Carl insisted that they can’t let him win without a fight.
